Advanced Open Water
Learn to dive, UAE, Dubai
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed for those divers wishing to broaden their knowledge and experience of specialist diving environments, under the supervision of Deep blue sea professionals. It’s the next level up from Open Water Diver and although it says “advanced”, you don’t have to be advanced to take it! It’s designed to run smoothly on from the Open Water Diver course although it can always be taken at a later time.
The course consists of five adventure dives with knowledge development but there’s no need for classroom sessions. There are two compulsory dives – Deep Diver and Underwater Navigation – but the other three are your choice, with options such as peak performance buoyancy, night diver, wreck diver, underwater photography and underwater naturalist you’ll be spoilt for choice! The course is scheduled to suit you, although some specialist dives are only run on certain days of the week. For example, night diving is run from Jumeirah Beach on Mondays and Wednesdays, while Deep and Wreck dives in Khorfakkan are scheduled for weekends. Once you’ve completed the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you’re certified to dive to 30 meters depth, instead of 18 meters.
Divers aged 12-14 receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification and are qualified to 21 meters depth. All you need to start your journey to specialist dive sites is an Open Water Diver certification, be in good general health and be at least 12 years of age. For more information about SCUBA diving and health conditions please see here. To take this adventure dive, you need to be a minimum of 10 years old and have the Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.
